Reynen Court LLC today announced that Sylvia Khatcherian formerly head of Morgan Stanley’s Technology, Privacy, IP and e-commerce Law Group and currently Deputy General Counsel at the world’s largest hedge fund, has joined its board of directors.
The new appointment follows the announcement in August that Reynen Court, established last year with broad support from a consortium of nineteen leading global law firms, has launched a Beta version of its ground-breaking platform designed to help law firms and corporate legal departments speed their adoption of AI and other new technologies.
The platform combines a solution store for legal technology along with a powerful control panel that makes it easy for law firms and legal departments to run applications either on-premise or within virtual private clouds. The platform also enables firms to manage software subscriptions with enhanced interoperability between applications and provides usage monitoring and advanced application-specific metrics to aid in better predictability of IT software and infrastructure maintenance and expenditure.
“Our platform will make it easy for law firms and legal departments to adopt and manage modern cloud-based software applications without having to trust proprietary content to the rapidly growing universe of vertically integrated SaaS vendors,” commented Reynen Court founder and CEO Andrew D. Klein. “Sylvia will guide us as we build support for moving law firm and client content out of traditional on-premise data centers and into firm controlled but third-party hosted virtual private clouds. As an immensely respected lawyer and risk manager, she has decades of experience safeguarding the proprietary content of sophisticated financial institutions, precisely the client base that generally holds their service providers and technology vendors to the most exacting security standards.”
“In addition to pioneering a new model for the deployment and management of legal tech software, the Reynen Court platform also enables firms to save time and money in sourcing new solutions, essentially by providing rigorous product and vendor evaluations with respect to important matters such as vendor maturity, application security and contract terms and conditions,” added Reynen Court Chief Product Officer Daan Snijders.
“I am delighted to contribute my experience to Reynen Court,” added Ms. Khatcherian. “By accelerating the adoption of legal technology, they have the potential to truly transform the legal industry for the benefit of law firms, their clients and society. Their timing seems incredibly right. The talent of the team together with the unique law firm support gives me high confidence they are on the path to creating an extraordinary company.”
Ms. Khatcherian has worked at Bridgewater Associates since January 2015. She spent more than thirteen years at Morgan Stanley and before that was head of the technology law group at American Express. From 1984 to 1995 she practiced law at Brown, Raysman & Millstein where she became a partner. She is a graduate of New York University School of Law and Columbia University’s Barnard College.
