Harneys, a leading global offshore law firm, and Alt-V Law, an independent legal consultancy, are excited to announce the successful completion of a pioneering project to migrate Harneys' extensive legal document database to the cloud. This collaboration marks a significant advancement in legal technology, demonstrating the complexity of modern IT deployments while setting a new industry standard for cloud migration.
Harneys partnered with Alt-V Law to transition approximately 60 million legal documents from five on-premises databases to the iManage Cloud platform, underscoring their dedication to adopting innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. The project, one of the largest of its kind, was inspired by Clifford Chance’s earlier iManage cloud implementation, but Harneys aimed to go even further by addressing and improving upon challenges identified in prior migrations.
The implementation of the iManage Cloud system has provided Harneys with secure, centralised access to documents across its international offices, significantly enhancing its operational capabilities. This transition enables teams around the globe to collaborate seamlessly, improving productivity and ensuring consistent service delivery, even across time zones and jurisdictions. The project's success highlights the firm’s commitment to technology-driven excellence in legal services.
The migration was executed through a simultaneous global "big bang" deployment, which involved rolling out the iManage system across all of Harneys' offices in major financial hubs and key jurisdictions. This approach ensured a smooth transition for all teams while maintaining compliance with the varied regulatory requirements of different regions.
