DPS Software have released the new civil billing function of their case management software to allow automated fixed fee billing and online submission. The criminal billing software from DPS has always been fully automated producing bills and automated submissions directly from the fee earners attendance note. The automation continues through to the bill posting in accounts and the receipting from the standard monthly payment. This same level of automation has now been released for the other LSC funded areas including Family, Debt, Education and Action Against the Police.
At a time when LSC funded work and practices are being squeezed more than at any other it is essential that the modern legal practice works more and more efficiently in order to operate successfully in a new climate.
Scott Ridley, Technical Director of DPS software said, “the LSC practice is under more pressure than at any other time in its history and needs its processes to be fully automated. This module helps achieve this instantly increasing the efficiency of the billing process to give maximum productivity”.
DPS have launched the module to their existing users as a no cost upgrade at a series of training events around the country. The most recent of these was in Manchester and held by James Drew, Consultant who commented that, “The clients that attended were very impressed with how simple the whole process was. Some had been using spreadsheets where they entered the data for submission to the LSC but of course this involved calculating the fees according to the bands and the time spent. This is both time consuming and gives no ongoing information as to how the case is progressing”. The upgrade remedies these issues and will prove invaluable to legal practices today.
Jeremy Berks, Senior Trainer at DPS trained users who attended and commented, “clients could not believe quite how completely automated the system was or how simple it was to operate, this has to be a compliment to the clients themselves who were involved with the design”.
