Software ring-binder looks and behaves just like the paper version
The gDoc Platform™ has won the Technology Innovation category of the 2013 KnowList Awards for the professional services industry. The awards go to organisations that have either developed innovative technology solutions as saleable products or have implemented new technology within their firm that they consider to be innovative by design or implementation.
The winners were announced on Friday night.
The gDoc Platform won the award for gDoc Binder ®, the first truly digital ring-binder, and a solution created using the Platform as a framework. The idea of creating a software version of a physical ring-binder is the brainchild of Global Graphics Software, the Cambridge company behind gDoc, and has already been adopted by LexisNexis, Nikec and RBRO Solutions.
Dan Brown the CEO of the KnowList commented, “The judging panel felt that gDoc Binder shows significant innovation that is of tangible benefit to the legal profession in managing their documents. It represents a very different approach that is centred on the user who instinctively knows how to use the software because it’s based on a paper concept used for years.”
gDoc Binder connects employees, partners and clients to their tasks and resources in a way that is totally familiar and natural. It helps them to manage documents and reference materials and saves valuable time when producing closing bibles and court bundles. gDoc Binder can also connect to existing document management systems and supports mobile strategies such as the introduction of the iPad.
One of the first client implementations by RBRO is at City firm Speechly Bircham. Robert Cohen, IT Director says “gDoc Binder makes it easy to review and track an entire matter in a completely natural way because it is based on the familiar paper binder concept that has worked in the legal sector for centuries. I’ve been looking for an electronic file that you can flick through and mark up for years but there’s been nothing available until now.”
The gDoc Platform architecture allows legal firms IT solutions providers to easily customise gDoc Binder to suit their needs. These customisations include DMS connectors, version control preferences, search parameters, and features such as Bates numbering and redaction.
Gary Fry, CEO for Global Graphics Software said, “I am thrilled that we have been recognised by this award, this is a great achievement for the gDoc Binder platform and for our partners that have supported this from the start. I am looking forward to seeing this going live across many law firms worldwide and continuing to support more innovation alongside our partners and customers.”
