MLC 3.4 provides enhanced billing functionality
Advanced Legal today announces the launch of MLC 3.4, the latest version of its market leading chambers management software. MLC offers diary, fees, case management and automatic time recording functionality, allowing both barrister and clerk to increase efficiency, monitor performance and streamline business processes.
MLC 3.4 includes a range of new functionality including foreign currency billing, individual bill chasing and cost monitoring, and offers more flexible methods for billing in line with market needs and when working with international clients.
MLC 3.4 now offers barristers the ability to bill clients in multiple currencies. Fast entry of currency exchange rates; seamless integration with MLC case and diary management; and summary views of currency and sterling amounts for all fees and payments, make billing international clients much simpler and more efficient.

Individual bill chasing offers chambers a simple way to produce invoices or fee notes for set periods or types of work, providing a more flexible billing service to clients. Reminder letters and fee notes can be produced with ease and include notification of original fees, payments and all outstanding fees. Reminders can also be automated to ensure clients are chased in a timely manner.
MLC 3.4 also enhances cost monitoring to help chambers manage budgets throughout the life of the case. This avoids having to write off fees and by monitoring legal aid cases to ensure budgets or tolerances are not exceeded when allocating costs, cash flow is improved.
Further enhancements to MLC 3.4 include improvements to the ‘opportunities’ functionality, making it intuitive and simpler to use in addition to aiding compliance. For example, the new ‘case cloning’ wizard allows a barrister or clerk to copy a case either in its entirety or in part, making it simpler to manage long running, complex cases, or create templates for standard types of case.
