Opus 2, the leader in cloud-based collaboration solutions for law firms, today announced it has entered a two-year strategic partnership with the Law Society of Singapore (LSS), a key provider of continuing professional development programmes for legal professionals in Singapore and the leading industry body in the APAC region.
The representative body for all lawyers in Singapore and publisher of the Law Gazette, LSS serves its members and the public by sustaining an independent bar, which upholds the rule of law and ensures access to justice. By joining forces, Opus 2 and LSS aim to increase awareness and education around the use of technology in the legal sector through a program of joint activities and initiatives, including events, CPD-certified e-learning programs and thought leadership.
The new partnership comes at a pivotal moment for the legal industry. While the COVID-19 pandemic initially posed significant barriers to disputes practice globally, purpose-built legal technology has played an essential role in maintaining access to justice by helping the profession adapt quickly to remote work and in providing hybrid or fully virtual environments for conducting legal hearings. As technology adoption accelerates, Opus 2 and LSS plan to collaborate on a variety of activities to promote technology and best practices in the APAC region, and to help practitioners quickly and successfully adapt to technology-led approaches to conducting hearings, preparing for trial and collaborating effectively with colleagues and clients.

The collaboration began in April at the Litigation Conference Workshop 2021, LSS’s flagship event, where Opus 2 were exclusive technology sponsors, and led multiple practical workshops focused on the use of digital technology in both online and in-person litigation practice. For the first time ever, the conference was held in a hybrid event format, with more than 1,000 virtual attendees and 180 in-person participants.
