Xact Data Discovery (XDD), a leading international provider of eDiscovery, data management and managed review services for law firms and corporations, announces Kate Mortensen has joined the company as its Chief Legal Officer.
The new position was added to XDD’s executive leadership team as part of the company’s continued strategy for aggressive growth.
In her new role, Kate focuses her time overseeing all XDD legal matters in parallel with managing the company’s outside counsel. A member of the XDD executive team, Kate interacts directly with all senior executives to ensure awareness, understanding and compliance with all potential legal and risk issues. Kate is also actively involved in optimizing all contracts and client-facing documentation to ensure legal compliance.
After obtaining her JD and MBA in St. Paul, Minnesota, Kate spent 12 years as a litigator in Minneapolis. Prior to joining XDD, Kate was a partner with Bassford Remele, in the firm’s General Liability and Insurance Coverage Practice Groups. Before joining Bassford, Kate was an Associate with Foley & Mansfield where she focused her practice in the Construction Litigation and Product Liability Defense Practice Groups.
Kate originally joined XDD in 2013 as a Senior Discovery Consultant, gaining a deep understanding of all integrated sales, marketing and service functions. As CLO, Kate will also play an integral role on XDD’s merger and acquisition team as the company continues to expand its market footprint.
“Kate’s combined legal and business acumen is a powerful asset to our company as we continue our expansion efforts domestically and internationally,” states Bob Polus, XDD President and CEO. “Kate’s hands-on understanding of our entire business operations complements her extensive legal expertise, of which benefits XDD and our clients immensely.”
