Eversheds Sutherland announces that it has partnered with technology platform Luminance to enhance the global legal practice’s firm-wide Artificial Intelligence (AI) capability for clients.
The adoption of legal technology, such as AI, is an important part of Eversheds Sutherland’s wider innovation agenda and the addition of Luminance will increase their stable of Artificial Intelligence and Robotic Process Automation tools available across their global office network.
Luminance enables Eversheds Sutherland’s lawyers to focus on delivering high quality, bespoke advice to clients and is particularly beneficial for M&A due diligence, as well as commercial contract and real estate review exercises.
Developed by an in-house team of Cambridge University PhDs and mathematicians, Luminance enables Eversheds Sutherland lawyers to teach the platform based on their wealth of knowledge and experience in specialist areas. Using pattern recognition and machine learning algorithms, Luminance reads contracts and other legal documents, in any language, automatically identifying clauses and legal concepts.
The technology complements Eversheds Sutherland’s existing contract review techniques and expert legal analysis to bring greater efficiencies, more responsiveness and increased accuracy. This allows Eversheds Sutherland lawyers to focus on the complex higher risk areas while using new technologies to turn large amounts of data into actionable insights.
Lee Ranson, CEO, Eversheds Sutherland (International) commented: “We are constantly looking at ways to use new technology for the benefit of our clients, and add real value across the legal practice. Using AI solutions allows us to work with our clients as their business partners, delivering what really matters to them: quality, strategic legal advice, combined with greater efficiencies.”
Emily Foges, CEO, Luminance, commented: “We’re excited to welcome Eversheds Sutherland to the roster of law firms using Luminance to streamline time-consuming contract review processes. Eversheds Sutherland’s adoption of our machine learning technology demonstrates the language agnostic nature of the platform and its ability to seamlessly augment the work of legal teams across multiple jurisdictions.”
