Deloitte Legal in the UK has today announced the appointment of Bruce Braude as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Based in the London office, Bruce will report directly into UK Managing Partner, Michael Castle.
With technology at the heart of Deloitte Legal’s strategy, Bruce’s role as CTO will oversee all aspects of legal technology for the Deloitte Legal business. This includes the use of technology internally to enable the firm’s lawyers to operate as efficiently and effectively as possible; the use of technology to develop new legal solutions for clients; delivering legal services via new ‘tech-enabled’ offerings; and the way in which Deloitte Legal advises its clients on the use of legal technology to optimise their own operations.
In addition, Bruce will also be involved in the continued roll-out of proprietary technology such as dTrax, an AI-enabled contract management tool, and MyInsight, a secure client portal that enables clients to track and monitor their legal compliance services.
Bruce joins Deloitte after eight years at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP, where he has been director of Legal Operation Solutions and lead for its consultancy arm Cantilever in EMEA and Asia since October 2018. Prior to this role, Bruce spent four years as head of strategic client technology at BCLP, delivering innovation strategies to clients through the implementation of technology such as artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics and automation. Previously Bruce held senior operational and technology roles at Investec.

Bruce’s appointment comes following a number of other recent hires made by Deloitte Legal. Earlier this month, Laura Bygrave joined from Taylor Wessing to become innovation lead for Deloitte Legal. Coming in as an associate director, Laura will be reporting to Bruce and be responsible to bringing together technology and legal expertise to develop new ways for our clients to consume legal advice and receive legal services.
In addition, Chris Bull has joined Deloitte Legal in a fixed-term role as Legal Operations Architect, making the most of his expertise in legal sector management, strategy and operations. With more than 20 years’ experience working at a senior level as a COO at law firm Osborne Clarke and global legal managed service provider Integreon, Chris’s internally-focused role will involve the design and delivery of a dynamic legal operations infrastructure for Deloitte Legal.
Deloitte Legal has 60+ client-facing practicing lawyers in the UK and 125+ other fee-earners, many of whom are delivering regulated legal activities. Globally, Deloitte Legal currently has c.2,500 professionals operating in more than 80 countries around the world.
