kCura , developers of the e-discovery software Relativity, today announced the release of Relativity 8.2. With more than 100 new features, 8.2 makes major enhancements to Relativity’s core technology, as well as delivering updates to its hold, collection, processing, and production capabilities—providing the security and efficiency of managing data within a single platform for the entire life of a matter.

The release includes the following highlights:

  • A legal hold solution that allows you to create defensible, repeatable processes for sending hold notices and tracking hold-related data in a single place.
  • Smarter, targeted collections with Relativity Collection. By scouting the data on a custodian’s machine, you can quickly and remotely analyze and search file names and file system metadata from within Relativity, gaining insight before initiating the collection—allowing you to make informed, defensible decisions about what to collect.
  • Stratified sampling in computer-assisted review , which ensures training sets include a conceptually diverse selection of documents—resulting in fewer training rounds and shorter review times.
  • A new, intuitive security settings interface that makes it easy for users to set and understand permissions at a glance, and allows for greater delegation of admin rights—so case teams no longer have to rely on a small pool of system admins to accomplish specific tasks for a project.
  • A new desktop console for processing that offers advanced users full control of Relativity’s processing engine, such as more granular control of workers, fielded access to all metadata in a document, and the ability to create custom fields and load files.
  • A web version of Relativity Binders that allows users to access searchable PDFs of their most important case documents anywhere, any time, and on any PC, Mac, or tablet.
  • Updates to the platform —such as more coverage for the Relativity Services API and a framework for creating custom mass operations—that make it easier for third-party developers, litigation support professionals, and independent consultants to build applications and integrations on top of the software.

“We’re really excited to deliver the latest version of Relativity to our customers,” said Andrew Sieja, president and CEO of kCura. “We’ve continued to focus on improving Relativity’s core features, while extending our functionality to solve problems throughout the e-discovery life cycle.”
