Xact Data Discovery (XDD), a leading international provider of discovery and data management services, is celebrating its 20-year anniversary as a trusted partner to law firms, corporations and government agencies. XDD is among the industry pioneers that led the evolution from traditional, paper-based litigation support to today’s comprehensive electronic discovery and managed review, both domestically and internationally.
Founded as Xact Duplicating Services in July 1994 by Robert Polus and a partner in Kansas City, Missouri, the company quickly gained a reputation for high-quality work product and exceptional customer service. This model was repeated in Minneapolis and Phoenix, where Xact expanded its operations the following year. At a time when litigation support primarily involved paper documents but was migrating to scanning, coding and OCR, interpersonal communication at all levels was critical to managing successful projects. Taking this to heart, Xact prioritized people and communication as pillars upon which it built a foundation to ensure consistent quality and position itself for long-term growth. The company changed its name for a time to Xact Inc. before becoming Xact Data Discovery in 2006.
“As the industry evolved from paper to electronic discovery, and from transactional to consultative services including project management and managed review, XDD has been at the forefront of the technology and process improvements that shape litigation support,” states Robert Polus, co-founder and current CEO of Xact Data Discovery. He continues, “As they did 20 years ago, law firms and corporations still rely on vendor partners like XDD to educate them on new solutions and to keep them informed throughout every project’s life cycle. Communication and superior service remain among the core strengths for which XDD is known and trusted by clients in the U.S. and around the globe.”
Today XDD provides electronic discovery processing and hosting services through a sophisticated data center in Richardson, Texas, that boasts state-of-the-art technology and security. The company operates two document review centers in India, in addition to two domestic review centers and 15 local offices throughout the U.S. that provide a full range of discovery services. In contrast to many of today’s international eDiscovery services providers, XDD continues to offer the paper-based services upon which it was founded and that remain a critical component of many cases.
