Leading digital dictation and transcription services provider DictateNow has achieved the internationally acclaimed standard for information security management, ISO 27001:2013, following a detailed assessment by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), a world leading, UKAS certified, independent provider of Business Assurance services.
The more widely achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification recognises organisations that define, establish and maintain a quality assurance system for manufacturing and service industries, with around 50,000 businesses in the UK so far having attained the standard.
This latest standard, ISO 27001:2013, so far achieved by very few businesses in the UK, with DictateNow believed to be the only certified digital dictation outsourcing provider, requires the business to set security objectives, monitor its performance against them, whilst addressing risks and opportunities as they become apparent. This more proactive approach recognises the constant need for everyone to identify problems and develop solutions within the context of their own business, rather than just sticking rigidly to a set of general and security standards.
Managing Director Garry Park commented: “To achieve these standards so quickly, demonstrates the importance everyone within DictateNow places on the security of the information we handle for our clients and the quality of service we deliver.
“ISO 27001:2013 is not just a standard you achieve and forget; it requires that we continually improve the information security management system we have developed, within the context of the how we work with clients – and that’s what’s really important. But this standard assesses the business as a whole, rather than just focusing on data security, so it’s satisfying to have the overall performance of our business and financial strength ratified in this way. It confirms to our clients and prospective clients that they can employ our services with total confidence in every facet of our business.
“We believe we are amongst the very first service providers in the UK to achieve ISO 27001:2013 certification, which recognises the quality of our 100% UK-based, independent, 24/7/365 service and our commitment to delivering a sector-defining secure service that’s second to none.
“Managing the service across our home-based typists, spread throughout the UK, remains a challenge. It requires the dedication of a committed team that understands the importance and confidentiality of the information we handle for the more than 200 law firms and professional service providers with whom we work.
“Since we set up over 10 years ago, as a provider of digital dictation and transcription services to a large range of law firms and large corporates, we have worked safely with sensitive and confidential data. So the transition to the new more testing International standard, proved to require more an evolution of our procedures, rather than any revolutionary changes.
“It is imperative that clients have complete confidence in the ability of service providers to manage and store data securely and they should seek those that demonstrate their commitment to information security by achieving ISO 27001:2013 certification. It stands testament to our commitment to delivering a level of service that few, if any, of our competitors can currently match.”
“Whilst the security of our service is essential for our clients, for us the quality of our service is just as important. Everyone at DictateNow understands the importance of delivering a high quality service, but never being satisfied and pushing for better is part of our DNA. Our success in achieving ISO 9001:2008 is further confirmation of our determination to deliver an unrivalled quality of service.
