LexisNexis® Legal & Professional, a leading provider of content and technology solutions, today introduced six new invoicing features within the LexisNexis Firm Manager® online practice management solution for independent attorneys. The new invoicing functionality offers a series of settings and templates that enable small law firms to efficiently create customized professional invoices that can include personalized messages and client payment history, plus the ability to email directly from within the LexisNexis Firm Manager application.
“I love the new settings and templates that Firm Manger has introduced – these are vast improvements to the billing functionality that allow my firm to choose what type of information, and what level of detail, we want to display on a client invoice,” said Ellie Landau, the law firm administrator for Bluestein Law Firm, PC. “It saves time too – gone are the days of opening an email and attaching and invoice – because the information is already there and can be sent right from the software.”
In a recent market research study of small law firms, 62% reported spending eight hours or less per month on the billing process – another quarter reported spending between nine and 16 hours. More than half felt this was too much – 58% saying they felt like they were spending too much time invoicing clients.
“Invoicing, indeed the billing process overall cuts two-ways because the activity is non-billable but essential to law firm cash flow,” saidSusan Harman, vice president and product champion for the LexisNexis Firm Manager team. “Invoicing is also a crucial client communications vehicle and while lawyers and their staff want the process to be efficient, they need the final document to clearly convey the work performed, payments applied to an invoice, and any outstanding balances, and all of this delivered with a professional look and feel.”
The six new Firm Manager invoicing features include:
“Invoices serve as an important client touch point and customization and personalization tend to go a long way in relationship-oriented business such as law,” added Harman. “Over the course of the next several months we’ll continue to deliver new features that we hope will delight small law firms and more importantly allow small law firms to delight their clients.”
