Michael P. Sugrue, Esq., a corporate e-discovery expert and former securities litigator who has worked with leading e-discovery companies and major law firms, has joined Catalyst as regional director of corporate business development.

He will help spearhead Catalyst’s expansion in the corporate market for Catalyst products and services that address enterprise compliance, regulatory and litigation matters. 

Sugrue comes to Catalyst from the Clutch Group, Boston, where he was vice president of Legal & Compliance Solutions. Sugrue helped this start-up company build out its managed review offering, initiate and grow relationships with strategic clients, and increase revenues. A member of the company's executive team reporting directly to the CEO, he regularly consulted with key clients on strategies to reduce legal and compliance costs while mitigating risk. 

Previously, Sugrue was director of sales at Stratify, an Iron Mountain Company, then at Autonomy after it acquired Stratify, and finally at HP after it acquired Autonomy. He led engagement teams for some of the largest e-discovery projects ever conducted, including fast-moving securities investigations, antitrust suits, IP disputes and other complex litigation. He also assisted several financial institutions with rapid, high-stakes investigations and litigations relating to subprime lending.

A graduate of Seton Hall University School of Law, Sugrue began his professional career as an associate at Latham & Watkins in New York, where he worked in the Securities Litigation Group and the German Practice Group. He later joined Goodwin Procter in Boston as a senior associate in its Securities Litigation & SEC Enforcement Group.

As a Fulbright Scholar in 1998-1999, Sugrue served as a teaching assistant at a college preparatory school in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Germany. He is fluent in both written and spoken German. He received his bachelor's degree in political science in 1998 from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass.

Mike lives in a suburb of Boston with his wife and their two daughters. In his free time, Mike enjoys coaching soccer, skiing, boating, saltwater fishing and scuba diving.
