LexisNexis® Legal & Professional today announced that its Managed Technology Services business was awarded International Quality System Standard ISO 27001:2013 certification. This certification benefits litigation teams that engage LexisNexis to host their data or eDiscovery software applications by assuring them of the company’s compliance with global standards for information security management systems.
“Our successful transition from the ISO 27001:2005 certification to the new 2013 certification is an important third-party validation that our information management and data security systems comply with an established set of state-of-the-art international standards,” said Allan Huber, vice president of operations for Managed Technology Services for LexisNexis.
The ISO 27001:2013 certification specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, reviewing, maintaining and improving a documented data security management system within an organization. It also includes requirements for the assessment and treatment of information security risks tailored to the needs of the organization. The new 2013 standard puts more emphasis on measuring the performance of an organization’s information security management systems than the prior 2005 standard.
“In addition to our transition to the new ISO 27001:2013 standard, we have also successfully expanded our certification coverage to include all of our Managed Technology Services ‘co-location’ data centers operated with our information systems partners in North America, Europe and Asia,” said Huber. “So, for customers concerned about redundant operations and business continuity, it’s important to know that this certification applies to all nine of our data centers located around the world.”
For a company to be considered for ISO certification, it must demonstrate the ability to consistently provide services that both meet customer specifications and comply with regulatory requirements. In addition, the company must aim to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of its systems, including the dedication to continuous improvement of their organization and its processes.
