UK News

Document Direct logoLeading legal transcription provider Document Direct has acquired Voicepath to create the largest specialist transcription provider to the legal and professional services sector in the UK.

The enhanced range of benefits that the larger group can offer will include:

  • A bigger and stronger infrastructure making more highly qualified transcription resources available to clients.
  • A 24 hour, 7 day a week service, enabling fee earners to receive their work back much more quickly, and at times of the day to suit their needs.
  • Paying only for work done which cuts law firm costs and can support any appropriate increasing, reducing or managing of headcount to improve or maintain profitability.
  • Greater ability to free up office space for fee earners and other higher value activities.

Document Direct was established in 2005 and has a prestigious list of legal clients in the UK and across the globe. Voicepath has evolved from the original Dictaphone business and primarily serves clients in the midlands, south west and south east of England.

Martyn Best, founder of Document Direct and new managing director of both businesses said that the firms had come together to deliver an enhanced typing and transcription service to the 250 law firms they currently serve.

Mr Best said: “Both firms have an exceptional heritage in the world of digital transcription services with a very clear focus on the legal and related sectors. As a joint entity, the combination of our infrastructure will enable us to provide the most responsive service in the UK, provided by the most highly and experienced qualified typists offering significant savings to our clients.”

The new business will also boast some significant endorsements and accreditations.

Document Direct is the only transcription agency in the UK to be endorsed by the Law Society of England and Wales, and it is also recommended by the Manchester Law Society, and the Lawshare group. Voicepath has been the long-standing recommended transcription service for LawNet.

In a world of increasing concern over data and cyber security, both businesses are fully UK-based and have invested heavily in strong systems and procedures and have accreditation to ISO9001 (Quality control standard), ISO27001 (Information Security Management) and ISO22301 (Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery).

Mr Best added: “The calibre of these endorsements and accreditations reflect the very clear benefits that both businesses offer law firms in terms of security, data protection, compliance, cost savings, accuracy and turnaround times helping our clients to better business performance at the same time as client satisfaction.”

Mr Best will be working closely with Voicepath's Operations Manager, Pauline Connolly who has been appointed a director of Voicepath. Voicepath's directors Kerry Payne and Robert Harris, who founded the business in 1998, have retired from the business.

Mrs Connolly said; “Our initial focus will be to continue doing what we are really good at - delivering fast, secure, and accurate transcription services to all of our clients. We have two great companies, with really good people, and I’m looking forward to integrating our businesses so that we can provide a further enhanced business model to help support law firms and new clients in this growing area.”
