Legal matchmaker LawBid.co.uk, the online service that seamlessly matches clients with a panel of expert solicitors, scooped the Technology & Innovation category at last night’s Law Society Excellence Awards in London.
The award caps a huge year since the service to lawyers and clients was highly commended last time out. The citation said LawBid had helped break new ground for the legal profession and praised the “only online digital platform of its kind in the UK“.
LawBid founder and Manchester solicitor Kid Harwood said this award was a real feather in the cap, and ample reward for another year of hard work, bringing new business to solicitors and opening doors for clients. “We’ve been challenging convention and creating greater added value for over two years now, and the list of satisfied solicitors and clients just keeps growing,” he said.
The Law Society reacted immediately on social media with unreserved praise. “We were looking for something really special for the Excellence in Technology and Innovation award and we found it. Congratulations to LawBid.”
Allowing solicitors to agree on fees with potential clients on a case by case basis, LawBid was created to address the price transparency issues with which the legal sector is only now coming to terms. It is also instrumental in helping avoid the pitfalls of price comparison websites or lead generation companies. At the Law Society Excellence Awards LawBid was recognised by the judges as an example of forward-thinking innovation that benefits the everyday consumer, while also growing business for solicitors in all specialities of practice.
The Innovation Excellence Award, comes after reports from both the Law Society and the Competition & Markets Authority identified a need for a better way for solicitors to make first contact with clients and for better price transparency to stimulate growth in the UK legal sector.
