Law firms can learn how to build a great legal team and how to tackle the challenges being faced by law firms as a result of COVID at Access All Areas 2020 as some exciting additions have been made to the panel of speakers.
Alison Lee, Managing Director at leading Portsmouth-based law firm, Biscoes; Alisa Willows, Managing Partners at top Plymouth firm, Wolferstans; James Barron, Head of IT at Co-op Legal Services; and Joanna Kingston-Davies, Chief Operating Officer at MAPD Group, all join Managing Director of Access Legal, Doug Sawers in what will be an exciting week of sessions for law firms.
The legal stream for Access All Areas kicks off on Monday 28th September, when Doug will discuss his vision for the future of Access Legal and how technology and innovation can make your firm successful and respond to new challenges more easily.
On the 30th September, Alison Lee joins Sarah Mian, Digital learning product owner at Access Legal, in discussing the traits of a high performing legal team.
Alison is experienced in managing legal teams, having worked at Biscoes since 1992, working her way up to head the Mental Health and Capacity department before taking up the role of Managing Director at Biscoes in 2015.
Alison has been instrumental in leading the development plans of the current management team and has seen the firm grow from strength to strength. This experience means Alison has an extensive knowledge of how to build and maintain high-performing legal teams.
During this session, Alison will draw on her experience to discuss what a high performing legal team looks like and Sarah has completed in depth interviews with legal firms, from which, she will share some top tips and key skills firms should adopt and how to retain top talent.
The final session planned in the Legal stream is our Customer Panel - What are the Legal business challenges as a result of Covid, and how will we excel in the new world? The panel will be led by Access Legal’s Head of Product, Richard Beech, as he is joined by Managing Partner at top Plymouth firm Wolferstans, Alisa Willows; Head of IT at Co-op Legal Services, James Barron; and Chief Operating Officer at MAPD Group, Joanna Kingston-Davies.
The panel will draw on a wealth of experience to discuss the challenges presented by COVID-19, current trends in the legal market and opportunities for the legal sector in 2020 and beyond.
Alisa started at Wolferstans in 1996, before becoming a Partner in 2008 and taking up a role of Managing Partner in 2012. In her 8 years as Managing Partner, Alisa has managed Wolferstans through a number of challenges including those presented by COVID-19 so has great experience to call upon to discuss managing a law firm to success.
James has more than 30 years of experience working in IT in both large and small organisations. With such experience, James understands the technological challenges and opportunities that face legal businesses.
Joanna has nearly 20 years’ experience in law firm leadership and management and has been at the Jackson Lees Group since 2006, where she ensures the firm runs smoothly across all of its departments to ensure its legal team can provide the best service to their clients possible.
