Start-up law firm Courmacs Solicitors has signed up to the Virtual Practices (VP) hosted legal software and outsourced cashiering service at launch. Based in Urmston, Manchester, Courmacs Solicitors was set up this year as an Alternative Business Structure led by experienced private client lawyer Sarah Waugh, and offers advice on probates, wills, trusts and Court of Protection work.
“I wanted to set up a law firm specialising in private client work but one offering a personal service, thoughtful referrals and serving the community – people want an affordable, approachable solicitor who is accessible on the high street,” says Sarah.
“Virtual Practices is in the marketplace to serve businesses like ours and for a start-up, it is invaluable in terms of compliance. It has become intrinsic to the business to the extent that we are now looking to expand into conveyancing.”
Natalie Jennings, who heads up Virtual Practices, which is a division of legal software supplier Solicitors Own Software (SOS), said: “Many of VP’s attributes make it an attractive option for ambitious start-ups such as Courmacs, for example the fact that it removes the requirement to employ a full-time legal cashier.
“More and more start-up and spin-off law firms are turning to VP as part of an agile, low overhead business model.”
