Aderant’s annual Momentum Conference took place in Denver in early May, bringing together more than 700 thought leaders and industry experts from nine countries.
The three-day event provided representatives from global law firms more than 120 training presentations, hands-on sessions, boot camps and keynote addresses on topics ranging from billing efficiency to matter management and knowledge management.
The opening plenary session featured president Deane S. Price showcasing Aderant’s roadmap and vision for the short and long-term future of the business of law, followed by executive vice president Chris Cartrett’s TED-esque presentation on going beyond the status quo. The opening session also contained the annual awards recognizing firms within the legal community for their excellence in working with Aderant. This year’s recipients include for innovation (Bilzin Sumberg), leadership (Herbert Smith Freehills), and collaboration (Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom). Aderant also awarded their “Newcomer of the Year” to Eversheds Sutherland.
Another highlight of the event was the Innovation Panel session moderated by vice president of knowledge management Glenn LaForce. The four panelists offered unique perspectives and insights into how their firms are using technology not just for automation and efficiency, but as a tool for strategy. Remarked on attendee, “Loving the humor and chemistry on this morning’s Innovation Panel.”
"Our Momentum Conference gets better and better each year,” said Price. “For us, we strive to provide real value to attendees, and by hosting the event in a new city each year, local and regional firms are able to experience it in addition to firms that attend every year. One person told me, ‘one of the things I love the most about global Momentum is the global collaboration.’ It’s nice to know we can provide that to our partners in the industry.”
Aderant will be hosting a similar event for its clients and partners in the European region, Momentum London, a series of one-day events that will happen on June 7 and October 17; as well as for its partners in the Asia-Pacific region with Momentum Sydney on August 9-10. The 2019 edition of Global Momentum will be in Orlando.
