Venio Systems, the leading provider of integrated, end-to-end electronic discovery software for corporations, law firms and service providers, today announced Babs Deacon as its Vice President of Training and Education.
Deacon is an eDiscovery and litigation support industry pioneer with more than 25 years of discovery and information governance experience. She specializes in providing consulting, project management and data reduction services to law firms, corporations and government clients, including management of the 9/11 WTC project for the Law Department of the City of New York. As a consultant and practice support manager for several prominent law firms, Deacon has dedicated her efforts to educating, mentoring and evangelizing about discovery best practices and tactics.
“Babs has been a leader in the industry longer than anyone, and we are thrilled to be able to bring her wealth of knowledge and experience to our clients,” says Bimal Tamraker, Venio’s President and Chairman.
She is a frequent contributor to numerous legal publications, has developed accredited courses approved by the Continuing Legal Education (CLE) boards, is a current faculty member of The Organization of Legal Professionals, and was a contributor to the original EDRM content.
“I’m so excited about being a part of Venio’s mission to provide practical education to attorneys and other eDiscovery professionals,” says Deacon. “I plan to focus principally, at least at first, on best practice workflow and project management.”
Deacon’s distinguished industry leadership roles include serving on the executive boards of the East Coast Association of Litigation Support Managers and the National Board of Women in eDiscovery, and co-chairing the EDRM Evergreen Project. She has been a speaker at major industry events, including LegalTech, Women in eDiscovery and ILTA, since 1989 and has trained thousands of eDiscovery professionals.
Babs will be present at Venio’s booth #2613 at LegalTech New York on February 3-5, 2015 at the Hilton New York.
