Smart Time Apps, provider of the Smart Time family of timekeeping applications, today announced that Denver-based law firm Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck LLP has implemented Smart Time’s Desktop Time, Time Capture and Mobile modules to improve timekeeping for their 250 attorneys and policy advisors across its 14 U.S. offices.
Smart Time was integrated to the firm’s Thomson Reuters Elite 3E accounting system. The rollout was accomplished through an inventive deployment strategy. Instead of traditional training, the firm’s accounting and IT groups visited offices and provided one-on-one 15-minute training sessions with their attorneys, secretaries and paralegals. In this way they were able to customize the training to all timekeepers, be they contemporaneous or reconstructionist.
“We appreciated how the Smart Time products adapt easily to how lawyers actually work,” said Carrie Knudsen, CFO of Brownstein Hyatt. “Those who get bogged down in completing traditional timesheets have been pleased to find a pre-populated entry to get them started. And those who keep time as they go love the ability to check the accuracy of their entries.” She added, “Most of all, we’ve been pleased by the return on investment—the Smart Time team got us up and running quickly, so attorneys began finding time almost immediately.”
The partnership has proven to be beneficial on the technical end, as well, according to CIO Joe Craven. “Integration was seamless, and it has been great to see the metrics from Smart Time bolstering the business case for increased efficiency and accuracy in timekeeping. The new data we get also help us to evaluate the timekeeping goals and revenue boost we’re aiming for by utilizing Smart Time.”
