Venio Systems, the leading provider of unified electronic discovery software for corporations, law firms and service providers, today announced that Babs Deacon has been promoted and is now Vice President of Training and Education and Chief Marketing Officer.
Taking on the responsibility for the marketing function will allow Deacon to more actively deliver Venio’s message and educate the marketplace about the value of a single, unified e-discovery platform. “The VenioOne unified platform allows legal professional to increase speed and reduce risk throughout the e-discovery process because there is no need to export and import data between steps,” says Deacon. “Marketing in e-discovery has always been about educating. I’m excited that Venio Systems has increased its commitment to educating our community about defensibility and accountability through the entire discovery process.”
To that end, on March 22 LegaltechNews.com published Deacon’s article “Ethics: Choosing the Cloud.” In the piece, Deacon discusses the three main areas of ethical obligation for companies managing e-discovery in the cloud: cost, competence and security. The article is based on an Emerging Trends session that Deacon moderated at Legaltech New York 2016, which included panelists David A. Greetham, vice president of e-discovery sales and operations at Ricoh USA, Eric P. Mandel, managing member at Indicium Law and Arestotle Thapa, CEO/CTO of Venio Systems.
Deacon is an e-discovery and litigation support industry pioneer with more than 30 years of discovery and information governance experience. She specialized in providing consulting, project management and data reduction services to law firms, corporations and government clients, including management of the 9/11 WTC project for the Law Department of the City of New York. As a consultant and practice support manager for several prominent law firms, Deacon dedicated her efforts to educating, mentoring and evangelizing about discovery best practices and tactics.
“Babs understands electronic discovery technology better than anyone,” says Bimal Tamraker, Venio’s President and Chairman. “She is the perfect choice to deliver our message far and wide.”
