DTI, a global legal process outsourcing (LPO) company providing eDiscovery, management services, litigation support and court reporting, announced today that Clifton C. “Cliff” Dutton has joined the organization as chief innovation officer.
In this role, he will lead the company’s product strategy for proprietary software and third-party software integrations, and drive business model innovation to maintain DTI’s leadership in the industry.
Dutton recently served as senior vice president, director of strategies and director of eDiscovery at American International Group, Inc. (AIG), where he led transformational change in the legal operations center, focusing on legal vendor management, electronic discovery process innovation, alternative dispute resolution and alternative fee arrangements. His team was recognized as a Value Champion in 2015 by the Association of Corporate Counsel. He has deep experience in eDiscovery, having been the national technical editor of the first electronic discovery reference model (EDRM) project in 2006, advised Senate Banking Committee members on implications of Sarbanes-Oxley for electronic discovery, and briefed the Department of Homeland Security on the use of electronic discovery technologies in terrorist threat detection.
“To deliver the best solutions and to solve client challenges, we need a visionary leader laser-focused on people, process and technology,” said John Davenport, Jr., founder and chief executive officer of DTI. “Cliff’s background as a client, a consultant and a developer make him an ideal fit to focus on adapting technology and business models to improve the client experience across all our businesses.”
“Combined, the DTI Epiq organizations have demonstrated market leadership. No other organization is better positioned to address the inefficiencies that exist in the global legal market,” said Dutton. “This is the right company to lead this industry and to deliver extraordinary value in the legal services space over the next decade and longer.”
Dutton graduated with honors from Brown University and holds a degree in cognitive science. He also holds four U.S. patents in digital image processing, game design and data processing.
