LexisNexis® has been named a Finalist for the 2017 Human Rights Business Award for its rule of law contributions that promote and advance human rights in the Australian community.
The Human Rights Awards are the pinnacle of human rights recognition in Australia. Judges for this year’s Business Award said the five shortlisted candidates demonstrate the range of opportunities available to businesses who want to take practical steps to advance human rights.
The recognition is indicative of the core mission at LexisNexis which is manifested through key projects in Australia to advance the rule of law and protect the human rights of Australians. These projects include providing resources to the National Association of Community Legal Centres (NACLC), updating flagship publications for the Australian Pro Bono Centre, creating a free practical guidance module on social justice issues in the Pacific, advocacy in abolishing slavery in Australia and abroad, and a partnership with the Australian Human Rights Commission to update the Federal Discrimination Law publication plus the development of an international human rights app.
Simon Wilkins, General Manager of LexisNexis Australia, says that the LexisNexis culture is driven by the shared belief that stable societies with strong rule of law produce greater business outcomes across Australia and the world.

The Business Award winner will be announced at the Human Rights Awards ceremony on Friday 8 December, presented by the Australian Human Rights Commission. The keynote address will be given by Commission President Emeritus Professor Rosalind Croucher AM. Attorney-General, Senator the Hon George Brandis QC will be attending.
