Claeys & Engels, who achieved a top ranking in the 2012 edition of Europe Legal 500 EMEA, offer a full range of legal services to their clients, covering all aspects concerning human resources. Through the integration of BigHand software, the lawyers at Claeys & Engels are increasing their productivity whilst out of the office.
They are using their smartphones to dictate documents, send these through to the secretarial team in the office, who can then access and distribute dictations for immediate transcription. The lawyers can view the progress of their dictation throughout the process.
Genkis Gurlek, ICT Manager of Claeys & Engels, explains: “It is our mission to continuously provide our lawyers with the resources that help them work more efficiently. Recently, Claeys & Engels introduced BigHand Go to their staff, enabling them to take advantage of the first digital dictation app available for the iPad. The iPad app allows email attachments to be added to dictated documents, as well as offering an extended package of workflow and profiling functions.
“The integrated speech recognition module Dragon, which is offered by BigHand as an optional module, could be implemented in our office in the future and provides new possibilities” continues Genkis Gurlek. “After all, secretaries go on holiday too sometimes, have high workloads or other commitments where they may not always be immediately available as and when the lawyer needs them.”
BigHand speech recognition software allows transcriptions to take place independently of the secretarial team on such occasions. The lawyer can choose to send his dictation through to the BigHand server, and will receive the fully transcribed document back from the server within a few seconds. The lawyer can then proof read the document immediately, making any possible revisions required, or alternatively a secretary can proof read the document at a later stage, making the necessary changes.
