Norway’s third largest law firm Simonsen Vogt Wiig has chosen HighQ Collaborate as platform to provide data rooms and client extranets to its key customers, and to support knowledge sharing in the future. Simonsen Vogt Wiig (SVW) initially sought a multi-use data room solution that would be used firm-wide as a standard service for lawyers and clients.
Peter van Dam, Head of IT and Knowledge Management at the firm, explains why SVW wanted a data room platform: “We wanted to provide our own secure standard data rooms, which is something many clients request. We also experience an increasing demand for secure document sharing solutions.”
Peter looked at several data room solutions but decided on HighQ Collaborate, a cloud collaboration platform with data room functionality. “HighQ is more than a simple file sharing and Q&A data room,” Peter explains. “It has activity streams, events, blogs, tasks – tools we can use to create professional communities, both internally and externally.”
SVW saw this as an opportunity to enhance collaboration between the firm and its clients. “We want to make it easier for our lawyers to build relationships with our clients and work with them on cases,” says Peter. “We are creating client extranets in Collaborate which we call Client Rooms. This will give us much more contact with our key clients and make sharing of documents simpler and safer. The lawyers are already able to manage the data rooms themselves almost without the need for any training or support from the IT department.”
Peter is confident that the use of Collaborate will expand across the firm. “I anticipate that Collaborate will not only help us improve collaboration with our clients, but we can use those same sites to support our internal need for knowledge management across the different teams,” he says. “The great thing about it is that we can quickly develop it into a knowledge platform without having to invest in other technologies.”
“This is perfect for us,” says Peter. “Our vision is to have the most satisfied customers in the market, and we continuously seek solutions that can meet the high expectations of the market and help us provide a simple and efficient framework for our legal services.”
Dries Ausems, Enterprise Sales Director at HighQ, says: “We’re really impressed with how well SVW are getting on with HighQ Collaborate. It’s great to see the firm already having success with The Client Room, and we’re keen to see how they get on when they start to use the platform for internal knowledge management as well as on cases. SVW is the perfect example of how a law firm can use Collaborate for many different solutions.”
