From the launch of MADDI, an AI-powered virtual associate, to the release of Onyx, Aderant reveals new firepower to record attendees
Hosting more than 600 clients and partners in Denver, Colorado, from May 8-11 and more than 400 clients virtually, this year's Global Momentum event unveiled product innovation, new releases, and a view into the future of Aderant technology.
With over 125 breakout sessions, attendees moved between hands-on training, technology demonstrations, and client-led discussions over the four-day event. Some of the week's biggest news came from the main stage as Aderant's Executive leadership team introduced MADDI, launched Onyx, and provided their vision for the future.
Introducing MADDI, Your New Best Friend
Aderant's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Chris Cartrett introduced MADDI, an AI-powered virtual associate. Uniquely designed to automate routine, repeatable tasks across the firm and solve common problems using law firm-based intelligence, MADDI comes pre-trained on an extensive experience base and body of knowledge, requiring minimal training from firms, and follows a continuous learning path. MADDI is the power source behind Onyx but is fueling the development of new Aderant products and features not yet released.
Onyx is Officially Here to End Outside Counsel Guideline (OCG) Compliance Choas
Global Momentum attendees saw the first-ever public demonstration of Aderant Onyx, now officially available after being announced last month. Onyx, powered by MADDI, ends the chaos of a complex patchwork of manual and semi-automated systems to manage OCG intake and timekeeper enforcement. This breakthrough solution, an exponential leap forward from its OCG Live predecessor, is the only solution to fully automate and unify OCG compliance across time, billing, and eBilling, helping firms achieve end-to-end compliance, improve coordination across multiple teams, and reduce costs ensuring minimal reductions and delays to maximize compensation. In addition, Onyx will integrate with all major legal financial and practice management systems, ensuring seamless operations for law firms.
Expansion and Growth at Aderant
In his opening remarks, Cartrett highlighted Aderant's remarkable expansion in the past year following the strategic acquisitions of docketing tech provider American LegalNet and people management software leader viGlobal (vi). Both have proven valuable additions to Aderant's product suite, including solutions that extend far beyond Expert for financial and practice management, designed to help the world's largest firms run a better business. As part of his preview into the year ahead, Cartrett signaled the launch of viSkills Wave in the next month.
He then highlighted the continuous growth of Aderant Expert, noting that over 220 firms have replaced their legacy financial system with Expert in the last five years. The majority of the growth with Expert has come due to the adoption of Expert Sierra, Aderant's cloud-based offering of Expert. Sierra is now home to 25% of the Expert customers globally. Firms are moving to Expert Sierra due to its SOC2 compliance, 99.99% uptime, and continuous rollout of features and enhancements.
Cartrett announced the addition of significant technical strength to its Executive team with the recent appointments of technology veterans Andy Hoyt as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Doug Matthews as Chief Product Officer (CPO). Hoyt followed Cartrett onstage to discuss his Aderant technology roadmap, including cutting-edge AI (artificial intelligence) and ML (machine learning) solutions. In addition, he shared his vision and plans for Aderant's go-forward, cloud-first approach and highlighted that for clients looking to migrate, data conversion would no longer be a barrier. Matthews rounded out the general session presentation by detailing how Aderant's product suite addresses the "4 Cs" or primary challenges impacting law firms today: Compliance, Cost, Coordination, and Compensation. As CPO, Matthews focused on how Aderant's existing product suite and working roadmap provide clients with solutions to those four challenges and ensures quick time to value.
