LawtechUK is the groundbreaking initiative aimed at spearheading the digital transformation of the legal sector in the United Kingdom, backed by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ).
LawtechUK will be running a series of free education programmes and events for those with an interest in lawtech, from supporting founders, to information for organisations and investors.
The first event is on Tuesday 3 October 2023 at Huckletree (Shoreditch) in London and will bring together investors and funders to highlight the market size and opportunity to invest in UK legaltech. The session will showcase case study examples and valuable insights into emerging trends, disruptive technologies, and regulatory developments.
Speakers will include Stephen Browning and Brian Liu who both sit on the 12-strong LawtechUK Panel, which was established in 2018 by the Secretary of State for Justice. Alongside speakers who have founded successful legal tech companies and/or are now investors themselves, namely:
Brian Liu comments: “Having first been an entrepreneur and now an investor in lawtech myself, I see the undeniable value this sector holds. Not only do I believe in the social value of the sector, I know it's underappreciated and undervalued from an investor standpoint, making the sector more attractive to me. Our initiative, backed by the Ministry of Justice, is here to show what a promising lawtech investment landscape exists in the UK and this LawtechUK event is specifically designed for investors and potential investors in the legal space – a chance to hear from people who know the sector well and can explain what it has to offer. When I was looking for our first investments into LegalZoom, I wish there were similar events that could have paved the road for us.”
